Clinic Relocates to 3m Facility

31/08/09

Glasgow Memory Clinic, founded ten years

ago by Consultant Physician Dr Fraser Inglis

FRCP, has relocated to a new £3m facility

within the West of Scotland Science Park in

Glasgow.

Despite the current credit crunch and global

recession, the clinic, which is engaged in

international research in the field of Alzheimer's

disease and memory impairment research, has

relocated to The Altum Building, a beautiful

eco-friendly building completed on time by

innovative developer Speyroc Ltd.

The building, heated by ground heat pumps

and a sophisticated underfloor heating system,

utilises state of the art technology to minimise

the carbon footprint in this age of global

warming. The Altum Building has achieved an

A rating energy performance certificate which

the Director of Speyroc Ltd, Alexander Haig, is

very proud of.

"We are delighted with the new facility,"

says Dr Inglis. Dr Inglis started Alzheimer's

research work when working as a lecturer in

Scotland's first memory clinic in Dundee in

1993. "The new Glasgow Memory Clinic is an

excellent environment for staff and those who

participate in our research programmes."

Uniquely in Scotland, the clinic has been

engaged in research of all of the currently

licensed treatments for Alzheimer's disease: "It

has been interesting to see the development of

the current treatments that we have available.

When I started working in the field there

were no treatments that we could prescribe

We are now working on a new generation of treatments and look forward to continuing to contribute to international medical research in this field of medicine.
